Provisional figures from the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) indicate that Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.1% for the first quarter of 2021.
Real GDP without the oil and gas sector for the first quarter of 2021 was 4.6%.
The Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, who disclosed this in Accra, said the real GDP for the first quarter of 2021 was GH¢45,378.1 million compared to GH¢43,999.5 million recorded in 2020.
On the contribution of the various sectors, he said, the services sector contribution was 53%, the industrial sector was 25% and the agricultural industry was 22%.
The agriculture sector’s contribution to the GDP growth for the first quarter of 2021 was 4.3%, he said, adding that the crops sub-sector within the industry recorded the highest growth rate of (4.9%) while the fishing sub-sector recorded the lowest (-3.6%).
