The government has pledged to construct permanent shops for residents who have been directed to remove their shops to pave way for the construction of apartments for public sector workers at Roman Ridge.
The Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye announced this during a meeting with the Roman Ridge (Residents) Retailers Association to discuss the notice served on them to remove temporary structures serving as shops.
He said the removal of the structures would make it possible for the early commencement and completion of the Ministry’s redevelopment programme.
“Based on the urgency to start the project, anything beyond two more months, following the expiration of the ultimatum will have dire consequences on the project,” he emphasized.
He noted that the Ministry would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the retailers to indicate its commitment to allocate the yet-to-be-constructed shops.
