President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned the Tumu Business Resource Centre to provide strategic support and assistance to local businesses at the Sissala East district.
In all, 67 Business Resource Centres (BRCs) have been established and had commenced operations. Companies operating under Government’s One District, One Factory are expected to benefit from the support and assistance provided by the BRCs.
The BRCs, which are financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), have the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) and GRATIS Foundation as its implementing agencies.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry in 2017 strategically realigned the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) to respond to emerging opportunities under Government’s Industrial Transformation Agenda —which include the One District, One Factory initiative and other related interventions.
Currently, the Rural Enterprises Programme is supporting some 63 1D1F projects.
The BRCs, which experienced professionals manage, are equipped with modern office logistics and will soon be hooked up digitally through a Virtual Private Network to facilitate efficient delivery of their operations.
Also, the BRCs are expected to liaise with business regulatory agencies such as the Registrar Generals’ Department (RGD), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to provide business support services at the district level.
In addition to supporting 1D1F companies at the district level, the BRCs will provide training in management and entrepreneurship, business counselling and advisory services, preparation of business plans, facilitating access to financial services and credit, and facilitating access to markets.
President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and people of Tumu and urged them to support and ensure that the Centre provides the requisite assistance to local businesses to develop and enhance the economy of Sissala East district and its surrounding communities.
