The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly has received over 105 requests from the communities under the Assembly to construct new kindergartens (KG) to boost infrastructure facilities at the nursery level in the area.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly, Dr Isaac Dasmani who disclosed this when he commissioned a two-unit KG block at Koduakrom, one of the communities under the Assembly said the government would continue to build infrastructure to meet requests for such facilities at early childhood education in the area.
According to him, the two-unit KG block which was financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Municipal Assembly Common Fund formed part of government efforts to address infrastructure needs in pre-schools in the area.
He added that government would continue to address the infrastructural needs at the pre-school level to increase enrolment at GK to help develop the intellect of the children in the area.
He said the evidence of this commitment of the government was the construction of new classroom blocks and other educational facilities in the area to address the challenges faced by school-going children in the Municipality.
On her part, the Municipal Education Director, Ms Mary Kwofie thanked the former Member of Parliament of Prestea Huni-Valley, Mrs Barbara Oteng Gyasi for furnishing the nursery blocks with modern desks from her Wassa Hemaa Foundation and asked organizations in the Municipality to emulate such laudable example.
