To provide access to health facilities in the Dormaa East District, the District Assembly is using its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and part of the Assembly’s Common Fund to build CPHS Compounds for communities in the area which lack such facilities.
Amenfi is one of the communities in the District which has benefited from this laudable health initiative of the Assembly.
The community has received a well-furnished CPHS Compound with ancillary facilities such as staff quarters and mechanised boreholes to make health officials who would be posted to man the health post comfortable.
The health post, which would provide services such as reproduction and family health, pediatric services, home education, basic consultation and dispensary, has already received staff to operate it.
In an address to commission the facility, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, reiterated the government’s commitment to increasing the number of hospitals and health posts in every part of the country to improve health delivery in Ghana.
He said President Akufo-Addo was working hard to ensure that quality healthcare services reach every Ghanaian no matter where they are located or lived.
On her part, the District Health Director, Ms. Esther Konadu, appealed to the Chief and people of the community to assist health workers who cannot be accommodated in the staff quarters to find accommodation to make their stay in the community comfortable.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr. Paul Akwesi Apraku Twum-Barima, donated a motorbike to the health post to facilitate the movement of staff to provide health care services in other health facilities which may not have qualified staff.
