The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Stephen Yakubu, has disclosed that anaemia among children under the age of five has reduced from 2.6 per cent in 2018 to 1.8 per cent in 2022.
He attributed this health success to the Advancing Nutrition Project, initiated by the government and the USAID Ghana Mission, to promote child and maternal care with a focus on anaemia in pregnancy.
Speaking at the USAID Advancing Nutrition closure meeting in Bolgatanga, the Minister said through this project, the USAID Mission Ghana has over the years provided technical support to health facilities in the region.
That, he said, has strengthened multi-sectoral platforms for planning nutritional health delivery outcomes.
“I, therefore, want to commend them for the tremendous interventions in the area of governance, peace and security, agriculture and health,” he said.
Mr Yakubu urged the health professionals in the region to work hard to consolidate the success chalked.
