The Bolgatanga Technical University has unveiled a 10-year strategic plan to enhance the country’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The strategic plan, which runs from 2023 to 2032, is focused on growing the student body, ensuring diversity, quality and equity and enhancing facilities and services for teaching and research.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Stephen Yakubu, said the country earlier gave more attention to grammar type of education than technical and vocational education training.
“As a result, technical education was reserved for the less intelligent students and paid lip service to technical education in the nation’s formative years,” he said.
“Thankfully, we seem to have realized this mistake leading to the attention currently being paid to Technical and Vocational Education and Training by the government,” he added.
He lauded the University for coming up with the 10-year strategic plan and hoped it would spur the country’s development.
