The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr Sam Pyne, has admonished pupils not to abuse technology.

He gave the advice when he visited some schools in Garden City on Thursday to mark the annual “My First Day” where children are usually received in their various schools at the beginning of every academic year.

Mr Pyne was very particular about how today’s youth use social media, stating that the negative things the young ones put there would come back to haunt them.

He reiterated that technology was meant for the good of man such as studying online to acquire a certificate and must be used for that purpose.

The Mayor was happy to see the high level of discipline in the schools visited and the number of attendances in the classes. He said education is at the heartbeat of the government, adding that the government would, therefore, leave no stone unturned in providing quality teaching and learning for the pupils.

The Metropolitan Director of Education, Mr David Oppong, expressed satisfaction with the enrollment of students and advised parents to send their wards to school.
