The Municipal Chief Executive of Adentan Municipal Assembly, Mr Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah, has said 1,720 household toilets have been constructed municipality through the GAMA Sanitation and Water Project initiative since 2016.
The GAMA Sanitation and Water Project aimed at increasing access to improved sanitation and water supply especially, in low-income communities.
He said 16 out of 17 institutional toilets being constructed for various schools under the project had also been completed and handed over to the beneficiary schools in the municipality.
The MCE made this known when he addressed the 1st Ordinary meeting in Adentan.
He enumerated some of the achievements made by the assembly including the extension of Ghana Water Company Limited mainlines to Ashiyie Fulani, Fafraha (Mile 13) and Amrahia.
He said the assembly was in the process of connecting the New Legon AdMA Model school to the GWCL main lines which would provide the opportunity for those in that community to get portable water.
According to the MCE, there was an extensive network of GWCL pipelines within Mamomo, providing the community with potable water while the Ashiyie Model school had also been connected to water.
The GAMA sanitation and water project is a 150 million USD project to help lower-income level communities to have access to affordable toilet and water facilities.
