President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of the Nsukwao Basin Drainage Improvement Project to end the flooding in Koforidua and its environs.
The project, which is funded by the World Bank at GHC16,611,145.00, under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme, (GSCSP) began on May 7, 2019.
At the sod-cutting ceremony on Tuesday 4th August, the President hinted that four more Municipalities in the Eastern Region have been selected to benefit from the Secondary Cities Projects.
The municipalities are Lower Manya Krobo, Birim Central, Abuakwa South and New Juaben South Municipalities.
He tasked the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to spread the projects under the Secondary Cities Project across all the regions in the country.
On her part, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, said the project has seven phases and all the phases are expected to be completed in six months.
