The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Stephen Yakubu, has stated that the YouStart Programme is designed to benefit youth associations, persons with disabilities, faith-based organisations and products of secondary, vocational and tertiary institutions.
The minister said this in Bolgatanga in a speech read on his behalf by the Chief Director of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), Alhaji Inusah Abubakar, during a sensitization programme organized by Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP) last Wednesday.
He admitted that unemployment remains the main development challenge in the country, especially in the region.
The Regional Director of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Mr Bukari Mohammed, a facilitator at the programme said 3,045 youth are being targeted to be trained in various models.
He said the YouStart has three levels of recruitment for the applicants ranging from basic, intermediate and advanced with start-up capital, grant and training components to support the youth to succeed in their various career paths.
He said from 2022 to 2024, a total of 2,100 youth would be recruited for the basic level, and 630 for the intermediate level while the advanced level would engage 315 in several training sections including coaching and marketing.
