The COVID-19 National Trust Fund has donated medical and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to eight treatment centres in the Ashanti, Ahafo, Bono and Bono East regions to support the management and treatment of COVID-19 cases.
The Beneficiary institutions are the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi South Regional Hospital, Mampong Government Hospital, Obuasi Government Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospitals, Holy family Hospital, Techiman and Goaso Municipal Hospitals.
The items, which form part of a consignment worth GHȻ10 million to be distributed to these institutions and individuals directly engaged in the combat of COVID-19 across the country, include Infra-red thermometer gun, Hand sanitizers, veronica buckets, tissue papers and scrub suits.
The rest include head covers, various sizes of heavy duty apron, sterilised gloves, gynaecological gloves, N95 face masks, surgical face masks, goggles and many others.
A Member of the Board of Trustees of the COVID-19 Trust Fund, Mrs Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, who did the donation on behalf of the Trust Fund on Friday, 10th July, 2020, said the Trust Fund would continue to complement the government’s efforts at curtailing the spread of the virus in the country.
She disclosed that the Trust Fund had donated a cheque of GHȻ2.5 million to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to intensify the education on the prevention of the COVID-19 across the country.
She added that the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital also received GHȻ1, 000, 000 from the Fund to support the rehabilitation and equipping the isolation centre in that health facility.
She said the Fund has also committed GHȻ7.2 million for the purchase of reagents through the Ghana Health Service veterinary laboratories.
So far, the total monies received by the Trust Fund is GHȻ53, 911, 294, 87.
