The Ghana Health Service has commemorated the 2023 National World Sight Day in Accra on the theme: “Love Your Eyes at Work.”
The programme brought stakeholders together to create awareness of the need for quality eye health and the importance of taking care of the eyes at work.
As part of activities to mark the day, an eye screening exercise was held for staff at the Graphic Communications Group Limited, commuters and traders at the Neoplan Station and pupils of the All Saints Anglican Basic School in Adabraka.
The World Sight Day is a global event that falls on the second Thursday in October every year.
The day is set aside by the World Health Organisation and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to raise awareness and draw the world’s attention to global blindness and visual impairment as a major international public health issue.
