The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has paid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Madam Justina Marigold Assan.

The visit was to deliberate on the progress of the Health Insurance Scheme, as part of a week assessment tour.

In welcoming the team to the regional office on behalf of the Regional Minister, the Chief Director, Mr Kingsley Agyei Boahene, stated that the region was interested in ensuring that the programme benefits the citizenry as it promotes healthy development.

Mr Boahene pointed out that the pride in the area also comes from the advantages NHIS offers, according to an interview conducted.

Dr Okoe Boye, on his part, advised the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to support the scheme to function properly.

He announced that a claims policy would be introduced soon to attract the “Sunshine Policy” which he indicated, would check the payment flow. “We are in consultation with the Finance Ministry to better and make the fund robust,” he added.
