The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ms. Delese Mimi Darko has called on the media to support the fight against the selling of unapproved products in the Ghanaian markets.
She said some businesses do not send their products to the Authority for approval before they display the goods in the market.
A situation, she said, may jeopardize public health if the products are unwholesome and urged the media to support the efforts of the FDA to rid unapproved goods off the markets
Ms. Darko made this call in a virtual press soiree organized by the FDA in Accra.
She hinted that the FDA would provide the media with the necessary information it needs to assist in this course.
Also, she urged the media to cross-check with the FDA if the products they (media) advertise in their respective channels were duly approved by the Authority.
She disclosed that the FDA has changed the approval statement for advertisement in the media from “This advertisement has been vetted and approved by the FDA” to ‘This advert is FDA approved” to save cost and time.
