Available statistic has shown that Covid-19 testing and vaccination among people in the Ashanti Region is low.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, who disclosed this said: “Some people do not believe the existence of the disease because they have not contracted it.
He said although the number of active cases in the Region now stood at 94 against a population of approximately 4.7 million, there was the need to encourage people to avail themselves for vaccination to reduce the number of active cases.
Mr Osei-Mensah, who was interacting with the Canadian High Commissioner, Mrs Kati Csaba, and the Representative of United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), Mrs Anne-Claire Dufay at his office in Kumasi, called for the intensification of public education and adherence to protocols.
Mrs Csaba was in the Region to monitor the progress of health-related facilities funded by the Canadian government.
