The Angolan Ambassador to Ghana on Thursday called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to bid him farewell after his duty tour of the country.
Augusto da Silva Cunha of Angola congratulated President Akufo-Addo for his reelection as President of Ghana and Chair of ECOWAS.
Augusto da Silva Cunha said though his stay in the country had been short, he contributed to strengthening the relations between Ghana and Angola, which materialised in President Akufo-Addo’s visit to Angola.
He said these efforts of his were recently climaxed in the state visit of the Angolan President to Ghana.
Augusto da Silva Cunha said he was grateful for the Ghanaian hospitality which allowed him to have dinner with the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which for him was “back to my origin.”
He expressed his optimism in the number of Memorandum o Understanding (MoU) signed between Angola and Ghana.
On his part, President Akufo-Addo congratulated him on his “very successful tour of duty of Ghana.”
He said the strong ties between the two countries had been on the development of the continent, particularly against foreign domination, as well as the institutionalisation of democratic governance in their respective countries.
“These are the things that continue to link Angola and Ghana, and I’m very happy that the visit of the Angolan President gave us an opportunity to reaffirm these common commitments that we have and also to sign these important agreements we were able to do to encourage a further strengthening of the relationship between our two countries.”
President Akufo-Addo wished him the very best in his future endeavours.
