The Angolan President, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço has said he’s leaving Ghana with the sense of mission accomplished – the establishment of a new Ghana-Angola relations, which is underpinned by an enhanced socio-economic and political development.
President, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, who met with President Akufo-Addo at the Ceremonial Room at the Jubilee House, a day before his departure for his country on Wednesday, said Angola and Ghana have a greater responsibility to deepen even further, their bond of friendship, and intensify the bilateral corporation and partnership between the two countries.
He said his three-day state visit to Ghana had raised the Ghana-Angola relations to a higher level and wished that it is sustained and moved even higher for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
The Angolan President said investment opportunities abounds in Ghana and Angola and that it was imperative both governments facilitated the process at the bilateral level for the benefits of their respective countries.
President Gonçalves Lourenço expressed appreciation to President Akufo-Addo, the Government and the Ghanaians for the warm reception he had received during his visit to the country.
The two countries had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a consultative mechanism that would enable them to engage directly to deal with critical matters of concern.
They had also committed themselves to boosting political and economic relations specifically on matters of security, petroleum and hydrocarbon, mining, agriculture, education, and the fight against pirate attacks and kidnappings in the Gulf of Guinea.
On his part, the Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said the visit of the Angolan President to Ghana had provided a platform for the two countries to strengthen the political and economic relations.
The President, who was anxious of seeing the Ghana-Angola relations grow stronger, assured his colleague, of Ghana’s unrelenting efforts and commitment at ensuring that the agreed vision and commitments made come to past.
President Gonçalves Lourenço has since left Ghana for his country, Angola.
