The Chief Justice, Kwasi Annin-Yeboah has commissioned an ultra-modern circuit court at Juaben in the Ashanti Region.
As part of the judicial reforms to support efficient justice delivery, the Municipal Assembly provided funding for the ultra-modern circuit court through its Common Fund.
The building features a docket room, information and communication technology (ICT) room, office for bailiffs and registrar’s office. It also has a standby generator for dependable power and a resident for the judge and an adjoining solar-powered borehole.
According to the Chief Justice, the construction of new courts and residential accommodations for judges across the country, under the current government, was unprecedented.
He said the immense investment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in justice delivery has helped in bridging the infrastructure gap.
He thanked the Juaben Traditional Council, particularly, Daasebre Otuo Serebour II, for releasing land for the project. He advised chiefs to desist from handling criminal matters at their palaces as that was the exclusive duty of the courts. The staff of the Judicial Service were encouraged to ensure prompt maintenance of the infrastructure to protect the investment made.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, commended the Chief Justice for spearheading judicial reforms to promote effective justice delivery in the country. He noted that the construction of residence for Judges of the Court of Appeal, coupled with the commissioning of several courts within the Ashanti Region, is evidence of the Chief Justice’s progressive leadership.
The Paramount Chief of Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Otuo Serebour II, praised the Chief Justice for the tremendous effort he played towards the completion of the project on schedule.
