The Anglican Church, Ghana on Monday organised a special birthday service for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
The President, who was 79 on Thursday 29th March, was in New York, USA same day attending a United Nations Security Council meeting.
At the special Church service, The Most Rev’d Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith said, the LORD had been good to President Akufo-Addo over the years and asked for the LORD’S mercies on him.
The Most Rev’d prayed for God’s continued protection for the President, especially in these difficult times, that he is able to steer the nation out of the Country’s economic difficulties to a successful end.
He admonished President Akufo-Addo to continue to lean on God for protection and guidance adding: “The God of Jacob be with you as you continue to look up to the LORD.”
Most Rev Ben-Smith quoted from Psalm 103:1 and 2 which says; “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits”;
He called on the President to agree with the writer of the Psalm, (King David), who refers to God as Lord (which is translated as Adonai) acknowledging that all his life depends on the very giver of life, who is the Lord.
“Your excellency, let us continue to look up to Him, let us continue to lean on Adonia, let us continue to listen to Him and He is with us,” Most Rev Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith said.
“He is the Lord of life. He is the only one, none other. He is the only one, He has no competition, He has no competitor, He is the only one. Let us continue to be obedient and to offer ourselves wholly and unconditionally for direction and favour” the Anglican Archbishop further stated in his sermon.
Present at the service were the First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, and Chief of Staff at the Office of the President Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, officials at the Presidency, among others.
