The former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has officially handed over the ministry to caretaker Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson.
This follows his resignation as announced in a statement by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin.
The President tasked Mavis Hawa Koomson to assume responsibility for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture with effect from Monday 24th January 2023 pending the appointment of a substantive Minister.
Dr Akoto handed over his portfolio to Madam Koomson in a brief ceremony in Accra on Wednesday. The handing over notes is for the period 7th January 2021 to 24th January 2023.
The former Minister expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the performance of the Technical Directors at the Ministry.
He formally introduced the caretaker Minister to the Ministry’s Board of Directors and urged them to maintain their excellent teamwork to improve productivity and achieve organizational goals.
In response, Madam Koomson pledged her commitment to working with all stakeholders and partners to steer the affairs of this Ministry until a substantive Minister is appointed.
