A delegation of Asafoatsemei and Asafoanyemei in the Ga Dangbe state has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mrs Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey in Accra.
The purpose of the visit was to officially inform the mayor of the outdooring of the Ga Dangbe Council of Asafoatsemei and Asafoanyemei and a clean-up exercise to be organized in the Metropolis on 8th November 2022.
Ga Asafoatse Onukpa, Captain Kojo Nseni Mankattah IV, who led the 9-member delegation to the Assembly, said the council was ready to support the Assembly to keep the city.
He also stated that the Ga Dangbe council would hold free health screening exercise for residents of Accra and appealed for support from the Assembly.
On her part, Mrs Tawiah Sackey said AMA was committed to improving sanitation in the Metropolis and as a result launched a campaign dubbed #BorlaIntoDrainsMustStop to improve sanitation in the Metropolis.
She noted that the campaign aims at creating awareness using educative discourse to help change people’s attitudes toward sanitation issues.
She further announced that the Assembly had several engagements with market queens in Accra to spearhead the campaign in their jurisdictions.
“I am hopeful that the participation of Asafoastemei and Asafoanyemei will go a long way to make the exercise effective and successful,” she added.
