Foreigners visiting Ghana will no longer have to physically call Ghana’s mission abroad to acquire the necessary documentation before travelling to Ghana.
This is because, from next year (2021), the government of Ghana would start the issuance of electronic visas to reduce the bottlenecks that characterize the normal acquisition of visas.
The Acting Project Coordinator of the Tourism Development Project (GTDP), Mr. Kwame Owusu-Amoah, who disclosed this to journalists in Accra added that the necessary infrastructure that would make the policy fruitful would be funded with a $40 million assistance from the World Bank to Ghana Tourism Development Project (GTDP).
The issuance of e-visas is expected to enhance Ghana’s tourism sector and make the country an attractive destination for visitors.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Tourism was working with the Ghana Immigration Service to select a firm that would design and issue the E-visas by the middle of next year.
He said the installation of the communication infrastructure and the paperwork of the project would begin in January 2021 and expected to be completed in May 2021.
