President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability as Ghana prepares for the December 7 elections.
Speaking during a meeting with the Organisation for African Development (OAD) at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, the President noted that this would be “the country’s ninth election in the Fourth Republic,” expressing confidence that this year’s polls will maintain Ghana’s peaceful electoral tradition.
President Akufo-Addo emphasised Ghana’s track record of successful elections, stating that the upcoming December 7 polls would further enhance the nation’s reputation among its sub-Saharan African peers.
“Elections are normal features of our national life that we go through,” he said, emphasising the country’s determination to navigate another electoral challenge successfully.
The President called on all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities and urged political party leaders to participate in upcoming peace initiatives actively.

The event will include a peace convocation with traditional leaders, security chiefs, and National Peace Council officials delivering messages promoting peaceful elections.
President Akufo-Addo would be the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
The President expressed his commitment to attend the Peace Match scheduled for November 9 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“I am all for it since this initiative is an excellent one,” the President noted.
Mr. Aguissi praised Ghana as a shining example of democracy and good governance in the sub-region.
