The Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), Madam Francisca Oteng Mensah has assured the government’s commitment to implementing policies to better the lives of persons with disabilities.
“These commitments are translated into the Medium-Term National Development Policy Framework (2022-2025) which obliges every MDAs to take specific activities that ensure their mandates and services targets PWDs,” she noted.
The Minister said this at the 2nd Disability Inclusion Summit of the National Council on Persons with Disability held on Wednesday in Accra.
Madam Francisca Mensah disclosed that the guideline for the management and disbursement of the District Assembly Common Fund for Persons with Disabilities would be reviewed to tighten the loose ends for effective, efficient and economic use of the fund.
On her part, the Executive Secretary of the National Council on Persons with Disability, Madam Esther Akua Gyamfi, indicated that the summit was about working together, sharing ideas and good practices to ensure that no one was left behind.
She called on stakeholders to take bold steps to overcome challenges facing PWDs, adding, “this will change the narrative.”
Three documents; DVLA Policy for Testing and Training Drivers with Disabilities, the National Inclusion Disaster Risk Management Guidelines and the Inclusion Directory were launched at the end of the programme.
