The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Mustapha Ussif, has reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting all sporting disciplines in the country.
He said this when Ghana’s wheelchair softball delegation paid a courtesy call on him on Monday in Accra to formally present the trophy and medals, they won in a softball competition in Crestwood, USA.
The Minister complimented the team for raising the Ghanaian flag high in the United States of America.
He charged the team to gear towards the African games and improve their performances for more laurels.
Ghana placed 2nd in its category and had one individual gold and silver medals. The team also received a donation of 4 wheelchairs, 50 softballs and 10 bats.
The leader of the team, Mr Osei Mensah, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his support to the team from the beginning of preparations and throughout the competition.
The African Para Games is scheduled to begin from the 3rd – 12th September, 2023. This is the first time Ghana has participated in the wheelchair softball world series held in Crestwood, Chicago USA from 3rd -5th August 2023.
