The Information Services Department (ISD) of Ghana has taken an important step in enhancing diplomatic ties and promoting collaborative communication.
A delegation led by the Acting Director, Dr. Winnifred Nafisa Mahama, on Thursday paid a visit to the Embassy of Denmark.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce the department and its functions to the Danish Ambassador, Mr. Tom Norring.
Dr. Mahama emphasized the ISD’s mission of empowering public participation and establishing itself as a reliable source of government information. She provided an overview of the different divisions within the ISD and their roles in achieving this objective.
Discussions between the two parties was fruitful, particularly with regards to navigating the challenges brought about by social media in the upcoming December elections. Combating misinformation, assessing the impact of policies through media monitoring, and fostering greater public engagement were key topics of conversation.
Mr. Norring, the Danish Ambassador, highlighted Denmark’s ongoing support for various sectors in the sub-region. This collaboration encompasses areas such as security, sanitation, statistical services, and healthcare. He stated that the ISD’s visit had opened his eyes to possible areas of future assistance.
The meeting between the ISD and the Danish Embassy represents a commitment to fostering open communication and collaboration. Through their joint efforts, both parties hope to ensure that the Ghanaian public is well-informed in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
