The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor, has lauded Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II for preventing the spread of galamsey in his traditional territory.
The Minister was speaking at a durbar in Mampong on Sunday, on the sidelines of the 1st Akwasidae Festival in 2023, hosted in the Ashanti Region.
On behalf of the Ministry, he thanked the chief for his assistance, advice and encouragement during his tenure as Minister.
He stated that the chief has shown great concern for the Ministry regarding the issue of galamsey, saying, “If there has been a King in Ghana who has truly fought to ensure that galamsey does not gain roots in his traditional area, it is the Mamponghene, and for this, I’m grateful to him.”
In response, the Mamponghene and occupant of the Silver Stool, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, commended the lands minister for his efforts at the Ministry and urged him to continue to hold every position assigned to him by the President of the Republic.
He said he would continue to support him to succeed adding that, he was fully aware that the Minister has just begun his political carrier and cited the Chinese proverb ” a journey of a thousand miles starts with a step”.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II stated that he was confident that the land minister would succeed in his career aspirations with the help of God.
In the company of the Minister at this durbar was the Deputy Minister responsible for Lands and Forestry, Benito Owusu-Bio, some members of Parliament and other Officials from the Ministry.
