The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, has assured Chinese investors who are willing to invest in the region that his office will give them the needed support.
He gave this assurance on Monday when he met with the Chinese Business Community in Kumasi to discuss the need for partnership with them and the region.
This was a follow up meeting to an earlier one the Minister held with the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Lu Kun in April this year.
“An area that can be of mutual benefit to both parties is rice production and as we speak a team of investors were in the region on June 10 to take soil samples for testing,” he said.
The Regional Minister further disclosed that the meeting was very successful because some of the investors who are already into areas like poultry farming have expressed interest in investing in the region.
The President of the Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Mr Tang Hong, praised the Minister for the initiative to collaborate with investors to invest in the region.
He further noted that the Chinese Business Community will leverage the Government’s industrial policy of One District One Factory (1D1F) to invest in the region.
Mr Hong expressed optimism that investing in the region will yield results, adding that availability of water for irrigation, vast and comparatively cheap land, coupled with the support the investors will get from the Minister and Otumfour Osei Tutu II will increase their chances of succeeding.
