The Chairman for the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Professor George Gyan Baffuor, has stated the importance of strengthening the District League Table (DLT) to promote equal development across the country.
He added that, “Ghana’s efforts to achieve socio-economic transformation require that the DLT be strengthened to promote equal development across the country.”
Speaking at the 2023 District League Table (DLT) Awards ceremony in Accra, he called for a concerted effort to ensure that no region or community was left behind in Ghana’s development journey.
Professor Gyan Baffuor acknowledged advancements in water, electricity, and sanitation based on the 2022 DLT evaluation.
Adding that, “There have been improvements in performance in some districts across the country. Indeed, there has been improvement in the delivery of basic services such as sanitation, water, and electricity.”
Prof. Gyan Baffuor highlighted NDPC’s collaboration with Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committees for Poverty Reduction Strategy and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in driving socio-economic transformation.
“Permit me to indicate that the District League Table has become a critical tool to promote balanced development across the country. In recent times, NDPC has engaged the Parliamentary Select Committees for Poverty Reduction Strategy and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on the role of DLT in the current socio-economic transformation,” he added.
