The Executive Director for National Population Council (NPC), Dr Adelaide Leticia Appiah, has called for knowledge sharing among professionals in the country to propel national development.
She made the call on Friday at a new-era media workshop on collective improvement and open communication in population matters.
The objective of the media workshop was to share knowledge on the Population Policy which aims to ensure a healthy, educated, skilled population for family and national development and also devise ways of reducing the high level of avoidable high-risk pregnancy in the country.
According to her, knowledge, in general, is a potent instrument for change in any nation, adding that professionals cannot openly communicate without relevant and functional knowledge since knowledge and education are potent instruments of change for any Nation.
“Knowledge sharing and use is the most important public good. It is the main engine for the development of any individual or nation and no responsible family, community or government would neglect its education or knowledge-sharing practices be it formal, informal or functional” she emphasized
Dr Appiah stated that to create and share knowledge effectively, the media needs to be abreast with pertinent issues regarding the population to educate and improve the lives of the populace.
“This is because the majority of citizens rely on the media to translate educational values that are engaging, stimulating, empowering and transforming for the good of society,” she added.
