A police officer at Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region of Ghana has been found dead.
Lance Corporal Alhassan Asare with Identification Number 46688 stationed at the Akyem Swedru unit of the service was reportedly found lifeless in a pool of blood on Tuesday.
The deceased officer was in his service uniform and seated in a plastic chair with several gunshot injuries in the head when his lifeless body was found.
It was also observed that the rifle of the deceased officer was positioned in between his thighs with his uniform heavily soaked in blood.
Three empty shells were also found at the scene.
One police officer, Lance Corporal Eugene Songoti Abaah reportedly discovered the lifeless body of his colleague officer at the premises of the Duke Petroleum Filling Station.
It is unclear how or why the officer was gunned down.
This latest incident comes on the back of a similar one on Monday when another Police Officer was killed in Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region. Earlier in July, another Police Officer was also killed while on duty at a checkpoint in Kumbungu in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The Police Service has meanwhile began investigations to bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous acts.
A police statement released on Tuesday said the acting IGP, James Oppong-Boanug has ordered specialised teams to investigate the murders.
