President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his sadness at the demise of the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Kwakwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John and has, therefore, sent his condolences to the family.
In a statement released at the Presidency described Mr. Afriyie as a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a strong defender of human rights as a lawyer, a proud and faithful adherent of the Christian Adventist faith and passionate devotee of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition.
The statement said his hard work and dedicated service to the NPP earned him the position of General Secretary and added that his sense of humour, limitless store of folktales and proverbs positively impacted every person he came into contact with.
It said: “He was truly unforgettable and our party and government owe him an immense debt for his work and commitment”.
“May the Good Lord bless him, and give him a peaceful place of abode in His Bosom until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again”, it added.
