The Ghana Geological Survey Authority has urged the public to remain calm and go about their usual activities.
The Director-General of the Authority, Mr Isaac Kuuwan Mwinbelle, stated this in a press statement released on Friday, following a minor earth tremor that occurred in some parts of Accra in the early hours of the day.
The Authority reported that the event had a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale.
“The tremor was slightly felt in High Street, Ridge and some other parts of Accra Central,” the statement disclosed.
The Authority assured the public that it was committed to monitoring similar events to ensure public safety.
Mr Mwinbelle said, “Education and sensitization of the public on awareness and response during earth tremors is important and currently being undertaken by the Authority.”
