Construction on the 64km Ashaiman to Akosombo Junction Road has resumed after nearly a year-long suspension.
The project, which commenced in May 2022, with a 30-month duration, is expected to be completed in November 2024.
The project is part of the Eastern Corridor Road upgrading (Lot 1), involving the design and construction of a dual carriageway from Ashaiman Roundabout to Akosombo Junction, the construction of a flyover at Ashaiman Roundabout and an interchange at Asutuare Junction, the building of 11 pedestrian footbridges, three river bridges and other ancillary works (drainage structures, walkways, etc.)
During a brief stopover on Sunday, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, inspected the works on his way to the Volta and Oti regions.
The contractor is currently undertaking earthworks between Asutuare Junction and Akuse Junction to widen the road into a dual carriageway, with additional work fronts opening up, including site clearing from Doryumu Junction towards Asutuare Junction.
