President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has won the “2020 African Political Leader of the Year” Award after competing with three other distinguished African leaders shortlisted for that category.
President Akufo-Addo who polled 54.39 percent, competed with President John Magufuli of Tanzania, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, and President Macky Sall of Senegal, who also polled 43.83 percent, 1.01 percent and 0.77 percent respectively.
The Award is in recognition of his immense contribution to deepening democracy and democratic values in the continent. The poll which was opened to Africa and closed on Friday January 8, 2021 at 11.59pm CAT.
According to the organisers of the Award — African Leadership Magazine —President Akufo-Addo, winner of the “African Political Leader of the Year” category, will be presented with an award trophy and finally decorated with the instrument of the honour at the 9th African Leadership Magazine Person of the Year ceremony, scheduled to hold virtually on February 26, 2021.
