Eight Chiefs and opinion leaders from Akpafu and Lolobi have described as political motivated a petition to Parliament’s Appointments Committee questioning the qualification of Mr Dan Botwe, for appointment as Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development.

According to a rejoinder, the petition dated January 24, 2021 and signed by one Seth T. K. Owusu, “purported to be representing the entire chiefs and people of our two Traditional Areas of Akpafu and Lolobi is not a true representation as being perpetrated and that it should be condemned and treated with the contempt that it deserves.”

The rejoinder signed by eight Chiefs and opinion leaders from the two Traditional Areas viewed the petition against Mr. Dan Botwe as an unwarranted attack on his person.

The signees said, “we firmly stand for the approval of the minister who has been very supportive regarding the request for creation of different administrative area by our predecessors.”

We the Chiefs of the two Traditional Areas “state unequivocally that… the entire people of Akpafu and Lolobi are solidly behind the minister-designate. He has done no wrong to the people of Kawu. It is our humble submission that SALL falling under Oti region is a majority request.”
