The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called John Dramani Mahama to concede defeat in the 2024 Presidential election.
In an address to the media in Accra on Sunday, he said that his party’s internal collation data showed that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama had won the presidential elections decisively.
He stated that the NDC had secured a victory in the parliamentary elections, although he noted that the collation of some seats was still underway.
Despite this, Dr Bawumia emphasised that the final results would not alter the overall outcome of the elections.
“The people of Ghana have spoken and voted for change. We respect this decision with humility.” Dr. Bawumia said.
The NPP leader stated he made his concession speech early to prevent potential tension and protect Ghana’s peace.
“Ghana is more important than any personal political goals,” he added.
Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude to God and said he was submitting to divine will.
