The Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, hosted the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency, Özlem Ergün Ulueren at his office in Accra to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Turkey and Ghana.
Mr Dery thanked the Turkish Government and Turkish non-governmental organisations for the construction of the National Mosque, which is the second largest in West Africa and other projects in Ghana.
He noted that there is peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Ghana and assured the Ambassador of the government’s commitment to enhancing peace and security.
The Minister added that peace and security were top on the government’s agenda since without them business cannot strive. He said the doors of the Ministry of the Interior were opened for collaboration in security and other areas that could benefit the two countries.
Mr Dery said the cooperation between the two countries should be enhanced to foster trade and business.
Her Excellency, Özlem Ergün Ulueren, on her part, said Turkey was ready to work with the Ministry of the Interior based on its specific needs. She said organized crime and illegal migration were issues confronting countries globally and, therefore, called for collaboration in terrorism, money laundering, migration and training.
