The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampam, Hon. Sam George has admitted on Citi TV’s Point of View show that, his involvement in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency bye-election deepened people’s expectations as regards the erstwhile National Democratic Congress’ primaries in Ningo-Prampram. Earlier this year, the legislator was slapped by a National Security operative at the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye election for allegedly verbally abusing him.
The legislator further revealed that, there were some unseen hands both within his party and government who wanted him to lose the election. He accused his predecessor, Hon. E.T. Mensah who he claimed was on retirement, also had an interest in the election.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) do not have a candidate. He disclosed that, the NPP are shopping for a candidate and that, the only candidate the NPP had who gave him a seemingly good fight in the 2016 elections has ‘fled’ the constituency to lick his wounds by transferring his vote to Botianor.
He mentioned that his campaign team has launched ‘Operation 20,000 Votes’ and that he will beat the NPP to the seat.
He also accused his competitor of throwing salvos at him in the media to launch his campaign. He said he had no choice but to respond to set the records straight.
Hon. Sam George won the Ningo-Prampram NDC primaries narrowly by amassing 407 votes while his competitor garnered 400 votes.
