President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Lariba Zuweira Abudu as Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, subject to the approval of Parliament.
Lariba Zuweira Abudu, who is the Member of Parliament for Walewale, was the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
A press release issued on Tuesday by the Communications Director at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, said Francisca Oteng Mensah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, has been appointed as Deputy Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
According to the release, President Akufo-Addo is hopeful that Parliament would “expedite the approval of his nominees for this important Ministry, so they can assist in the effective delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.”
On July 28, 2022, President Akufo-Addo revoked the appointment of Sarah Adwoa Safo, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The President, whose decision was in accordance with article 81 (a) of the Constitution, has asked the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, to continue to act as caretaker Minister for the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry, until a substantive Minister is appointed.
