The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) is constructing 1,473 projects in the six regions in the coastal areas.
Two hundred and twenty-nine out of these projects have been completed while the rest are at various stages of completion.
The Chief Executive Officer of CODA, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, disclosed this at a media briefing on Wednesday in Accra.
The completed projects, which include school blocks, markets, roads and bridges, health facilities and Astro turfs, are located in Greater Accra, Volta, Central, Western, Western North and Oti Regions.
He disclosed that Oti and Western North Regions do not lie in the coastal areas yet they have been added to the CODA operating areas because they were formally part of Volta and Western Regions.
Mr Shaib said apart from the construction of infrastructural projects, CODA had also provided material and financial support to economically empower residents in its operational areas.
For instance, he said CODA distributed 3000 outboard motors to fishermen to help them improve their income.
‘The Authority has also distributed Baja Qute pro-poor vehicles to some Okada riders and commercial drivers to help them earn a living,” he added.
Under the CODA Health Train Initiative, he said some vulnerable people in the coastal areas had received free fibroid and hernia surgeries.
The Authority has also initiated a programme to clean the beaches under its CODA Clean Beach Campaign to promote tourism, he added.
