The National Teaching Council says it is presenting 19,484 teachers with their professional licenses nationwide.

The Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr Christian Addai-Poku, announced this on Monday in Accra.

The issuance of licenses is for newly qualified teachers and teachers who are exempted from the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).

Dr Addai-Poku indicated that centres have been created in the regions for teachers to have their licenses, adding that the exercise, which started on 15th May 2023, would end on 14th June 2023.

He indicated that the Greater Accra Region has 5447 teachers, the largest, while the Savanna region has 189, the least number, expected to receive their licenses.

He stated that the NTC would continue to put in place policies and measures to ensure that teachers work with the right qualification, adhere to required standards and uphold professionalism to enhance effective teaching and learning.

He urged all Regional, Municipal, Metropolitan and District Directors of Education to actively monitor the process to ensure a successful exercise.
