An ECOWAS technical team paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister on Monday in Accra.
The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of ECOWAS, Mr Abdel-Fatau Musah, led the team as part of a working visit to Ghana.
The two parties deliberated on ways to finance the Accra Initiative as well as issues relating to cooperation between the ECOWAS Commission and the Accra Initiative to eradicate terrorism in the region.
Mr Musah hinted that an MoU would be signed to further solidify ties between ECOWAS and the Accra Initiative.
The Commissioner commended Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for championing the Accra Initiative.
“We thank the President for making the Pan-Africanist decision to host the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” he added.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration was represented by her Special Advisor, Mr Kwabena Osei-Danquah.
The Team paid visits to the Ministry of National Security, the Executive Secretariat of the Accra Initiative, the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force in Tamale.
