The outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ghana, Mr Michael Wimmer has paid a farewell call on the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Kwaku Ampratwum – Sarpong at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
He acknowledged the Government of Ghana and the citizens for their unwavering support during his tenure, which contributed to the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
Mr Wimmer commended Ghana for its cooperation with the Government of Belgium in various areas of mutual interest, particularly economic trade relations.
On his part, Mr Kwaku Amptratwum-Sarpong commended the departing Ambassador for his efforts in fostering bilateral ties between Ghana and Belgium throughout his term in office and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to fostering cooperation in all areas of shared interest.
He expressed appreciation for the support Ghana received from Belgium leading to its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period January 2022 to December 2023.
The Deputy Minister commended the Belgian government for its assistance to Ghana in the areas of education, agriculture, health, and port management and operations.
Mr Amptratwum-Sarpong urged the outgoing Ambassador to continue to advocate for Ghana’s interests wherever he may be and wished him well in his future endeavors.
