The Central Adoption Authority under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has organized its first stakeholders’ dialogue meeting on Thursday in Accra.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss adoption and its related matters within the adoption sector and help stakeholders to understand their roles and responsibilities in the New Adoption Process.
Addressing stakeholders on behalf of the Chief Director, the Head of the Central Adoption Authority, Mr. Stephen Tikai Dombo said the Authority would launch the Adoption Manual which would help the adoptive parents familiarize themselves with the new adoption process before adopting.
He made it known that a day would be set aside to celebrate the National Adoption Day (NAD) and mentioned that the Authority would do Post Adoption Monitoring for Inter-country Adoption.
He urged the Adoption Agencies to work together with the Regional Directors and relay their challenges to them for redress.
He also expressed gratitude to organizers for working together in the interest of children in the country.
On his part, the Head of Local Government Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, pleaded for more resources to be allocated to the New Adoption Process so that the Central Adoption Authority’s job would be made simpler.
