National Household Registry begins data collection on leprosarium

The Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) has trained some selected staff to collect data on all inhabitants of Leprosaria’s across the country.

The GNHR said, it has the mandate to create a National Registry from which potential beneficiaries for social protection interventions would be selected.

In view of that, the exercise commenced on Wednesday, in the in the Greater Accra, Volta and Central Regions and would later begin in the other regions.

The teams have been tasked to collect some personal and socio-economic information from respondents.

“The exercise was to compile a credible data on individuals and those living in various Leprosarium’s across the country for social protection programmes, including enrollment on the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Cash Transfer Programme” it emphasized.

It further stated that it would make it simple for government and non-governmental organizations to recognize them and focus on providing them with social security relief services.
