The School of Social Work under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has graduated 51 students after eight weeks of tutorials.
In a speech read on her behalf, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Afisah Zakariah, urged the graduates to embrace and incorporate the six core values of social work: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, significance of human relationships, integrity and competence into their profession.
On her part, the Chief Child Protection Officer at UNICEF, Madam Ruby Annan, challenged the graduates to make a difference in the lives of others as they had been doing in their course work.
The Principal of the School of Social Work, Mr Felix Logah, encouraged the public to take advantage of the school’s courses to obtain a credential because it is the approved institution mandated to teach frontline social workers.
“It is the responsibility of the School of Social Work to prepare general frontline social workers to provide integrated social welfare services inside of establishments and initiatives that support human development, social justice and social functioning,” he added.
