The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has urged media houses and the general public to stop addressing one Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu as an ex-captain or captain retired from the Ghana Armed Forces.

The statement signed by Naval Captain MA Larbi, Director of Public Relations, said posters of Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu have been seen with the title ‘Captain Retired’ or ‘Ex-Captain’ projecting his political ambitions and on some programmes on radio.

GAF said Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu was released from the Service on Thursday, 6th April 2023, on the grounds of Voluntary Resignation of Commission after serving for five years 10 months and 18 days, which is not the standard number of years he is supposed to serve as an Officer to make him entitled to use his rank in civil life.

GAF said the actions of Jamaldeen Tonzua Seidu are in violation of the Armed Forces Regulations and, therefore, cautioned him to cease using the rank in his civil life.

It urges media outlets and the general public to refrain from calling him by any military rank as he is not eligible to use his military rank as a civilian and as a result, people who deal with him in that capacity do so at their peril.
