The Minister for Information, Mrs Fatimatu Abubakar, has reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting media pluralism to ensure diverse perspectives and voices, especially for the marginalised.
The Minister, who said this during a media tour in Accra, assured that the Ministry would collaborate with the media to end the culture of impunity by pursuing justice for journalists.
She urged the media to take advantage of the Ministry’s media support programmes to build capacity and improve content and programming.
The Minister also asked media practitioners to apply for the International Fund for Public Interest Media (IFPIM).
“Media practitioners should endeavour to enrol in this programme, which is a global initiative that supports independent media outlets with financial resources and technical assistance to enhance media operations, content quality and sustainability.”
The Minister emphasised the importance of growth in the media industry and encouraged media practitioners to explore innovative programming, digital transformation and audience engagement strategies to stay competitive and relevant.
